2022 Birthday Weekend Sunday Brunch (1/16/22)

The Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes are very pleased to announce the return of the ASH Birthday Weekend Brunch on Sunday, Jan 16, 2022, from 11:30am-2:30pm. This cozy repast with a cash bar will take place, once again, at The Long Room, 120 West 44th Street between Broadway and 6th Avenue.

Please note that all attendees will be required to present proof of vaccination.
If you have COVID-19, have symptoms of COVID-19, or have been exposed to someone who recently tested positive for COVID-19, do not attend.

You must also RSVP to ASHBrunch@gmail.com. This step is necessary for us to give the restaurant an accurate head count. You will receive an email confirmation. If you have any special cuisine requests, such as vegan or allergy awareness, please note these with your RSVP; the Long Room will do its best to accommodate.

This event is open to all. Cash walk-ins at the door will only be accepted if space permits. Advance payment is your best bet and enables you to cap off the Birthday Week(end) in a relaxed state of mind. 🙂

Spring 2020 Luncheon Cancelled

It is with significant regret that due to the coronavirus/COVID-19 crisis, the Spring 2020 Luncheon of The Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes has been cancelled. We all send one another love and encouragement, and look forward to this autumn’s gathering.

Birthday Weekend ASH Wednesday – 15 January 2020

Dear ASH and Friends, 
Looking ahead past the sacred and secular holidays to our Sherlockian festivities, this is to advise you that the Adventuresses will again usher in the Birthday Weekend with an informal gathering on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, and to invite you to join us there. We will gather for this special “ASH Wednesday” at 6:30 pm at our customary locale:

We meet upstairs: the stairway is located at the end of the bar.                        

If you cannot manage stairs, the manager can direct you to the elevator.This will be a happy occasion to meet with (and eat with and drink with) kindred spirits from around the globe.  As usual, there is no set charge – we each pay for what we consume (plus tax and tip, of course).

If you can attend, please advise either me (at herzogbaesch@aol.com) or Susan Rice (at susan221bee@gmail.com).  All are welcome: we just need to have a good idea of how many to expect so there can be enough places set to accommodate the throng.

Now, IF you’ve already informed me or Susan that you’re coming, you DON’T have to do so again – for you this message is just a confirmation of the time and place.

We Will Be Dining on the Lower Level – The Front Door Attendant Can Provide Stair-Free Access via a Ramp on 64th Street

The Luncheon Will be Served Family Style
Including House Salad, Stuffed Mushrooms, Zucchini Fritti, Ravioli Napolitano, Veal Piccata, Penne with Broccoli, Garlic & Oil, Spaghetti with Meatballs, Sauteed Broccoli Rabe, Escarole & Beans, Sausage & Peppers, Chicken Marsala, and Homemade Italian Dessert Platter

We’ll be returning Tony’s di Napoli’s East Side location in NYC for the ASH Autumn Luncheon.

Memorial Gathering for Susan Diamond

Dear friends:

Allan Devitt sends his continued thanks to all of you for your good wishes and expressions of sympathy. Allan has now made plans for a gathering to remember and celebrate Susan’s life.  

Susan would have turned 70 in mid-August and the gathering will be held on Sunday, August 18th in their hometown of Bensenville, IL.  

There will be a midday memorial service at their well-loved Bensenville Community Public Library and then a dinner at the nearby American Legion.  

In the future Allan will pass along hotel suggestions and, for those who arrive on the Saturday, Allan would be glad to arrange an informal local get-together for that evening if you’d let him know you’ll be there then.
